Adunni Jessica Lademo – A Life of Depth, Grace, and Quiet Radiance
Adunni Jessica Lademo, affectionately known as Ad, was a vibrant and deeply thoughtful presence whose million-dollar smile could light up any room. She carried herself with warmth and an effortless grace that made people feel immediately at ease.
Adunni shared an incredibly close bond with her mother, Helena. They were not only mother and daughter, but best friends who lived life side by side. They shared a home, daily routines, laughter, and dreams. Ad was both a daughter and a source of guidance and creativity. She thoughtfully helped her mother put together outfits, selecting the right jewelry, refining every detail with care and intention. She brought that same precision to helping her mother with writing, offering edits and insight with a sharp and thoughtful mind. She was known to be articulate and naturally gifted; someone whose presence elevated everything around her.
To her brother, Oluwarotimi (Rotimi), she was more than a sister. She was a second mother. She showed up for him consistently, from everyday moments to extraordinary ones, like driving eight hours to Boston to take him to school and returning home the very same day. Her love was steady, present, and unwavering. She listened without judgment and without interruption, offering a rare kind of presence that made others feel safe. She and Rotimi even called this shared gift the “listening clan,” a reflection of their belief that truly listening with care was both rare and powerful.
To many, Ad was a confidante and a steady presence. People were naturally drawn to her, often feeling close to her quickly because of the way she received them—with patience, empathy, and sincerity. But to know her more deeply felt like a privilege. She was deeply introspective, revealing herself in ways that felt meaningful and rare.
Her love was also expressed through action. She welcomed people into her home with ease, cooking and hosting in a way that made others feel cared for and comfortable. Whether perfecting her banana pudding and banana bread or preparing meals for gatherings, she gave generously of herself without hesitation.
Her relationships were deeply meaningful. She cherished her close friends, loved spending time and traveling with them, and shared a special bond with her cousins, with whom she created lasting memories. At the center of her heart was her beloved dog, Finnie, whom she lovingly called her daughter and cared for with deep tenderness.
Adunni also carried a distinct creative spirit. She loved sewing, drawing, and creating art, and had a deep appreciation for theater, music, poetry, and expression in all forms. Her sense of style was uniquely her own. She had a natural ability to transform simple pieces into something striking, and to help others do the same. In another life, she could easily have been a fashion designer, her work gracing runways with the same creativity she carried every day.
She loved to travel, especially by train, embracing the journey as much as the destination. She stayed connected to culture, always aware of the latest trends and music, bringing a sense of vibrancy wherever she went.
Above all, Adunni leaves behind a legacy of grace. She taught those around her the importance of patience, kindness, and moving through the world with care and intention. She showed that true impact is found not in loud moments, but in quiet, consistent acts of love.
To know Ad was a gift. To carry her forward is a blessing.
May her memory bring peace, and may her life continue to inspire all who knew her.
