George Leroy Fortune Sr., also affectionately known as “Booster”, was born on May 2, 1943 in Florence, South Carolina to the late Amos and Mazerine Fortune. On the early morning of June 22, 2024, he peacefully gained his eternal wings.
During his teenage years, he moved to Baltimore, MD with his family and attended school within the Baltimore City Public School System. In his adult years, he moved with his sister, Estella, to the Bronx, NY and often traveled back to MD to visit his family.
Throughout his life, George enjoyed cooking, watching Westerns, and listening to comedy albums, such as Richard Pryor, Redd Fox and Moms Mabley. He held various forms of employment, including making deliveries for the Maryland Food Bank and Entenmann's Bakery.
George Sr. was preceded in death by his wife, Lauraine Fortune and beloved companion and mother of his children, Dale M. Jackson, precious daughter, Monique Fortune, brothers Lewis (JoAnn), Amos and Mac Arthur, and sisters, Estella and Helena.
Left to cherish George Sr.’s memory are three sons: George Fortune Jr., Marlon Fortune and George Fortune lll (Candice), two daughters: Renee Barnes and Angela Perry (Duane), eight grandchildren: Brittany, Dana, Tiffany, Demairi, Ayden, Dae’yone, Dameian and Kailyn, and one great-grandchild, Tyler, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
