Robert Jerome Barnes, Sr. was born on August 19, 1955 in Baltimore, Md. To Rev. Fred Barnes “Pops” and Lena B. Barnes. On Thursday, April 30, 2020 Robert quietly transitioned at home in his bed.
According to Roberts testimony he made his peace with the Lord on Wednesday April 22, 2020. Robert attended Baltimore City Public Schools attending Lombard Junior High and Patterson High schools. He attended Lincoln Technical Institute where he became a certified carpenter, auto mechanic and welder. He was employed at Cockeys Enterprise, Inc. as a welder.
Robert was a helpful and loving renaissance man. He had many friends, loved to talk and sing. Robert loved his mother and would often cook and have breakfast with her.
Robert had a nickname for everyone, his being “FISH”, those in his immediate family, mother Lena “WOMAN”; Audrey “TRISSELL”; David “Daddy SCRUGGO”; Diane “MOE”; Alisia “MOON DAWG”; Tony “BLAST”; Se’ Shawn “OLD LADY SWOUL”; Gregory Sr; “HEAD GONE SWOUL”; Harold Jr. “ SQUIRRLLY”; Darryl Sr. “HEAD GONE SWOUL”; Gregory Jr., Isaiah, Kingsley and Darryl Jr., “LITTLE HN’S”.
Robert is preceded in death by his son, Robert Jerome Barnes Jr. “ ELROY”, brother, Freddie Lee Barnes “FREDRICO” and sister Susie A. McKinney, “SALLY”. Robert leaves to honor his life mother Lena B. Barnes, sisters Audrey O. McLaughlin and Diane Barnes Barnett ( Harold “ WILLIE”), and one brother David Barnes (Belvenise), five grandchildren Treyshawn, Brittany, Rashawn, James and Mi el and one great granddaughter Ka ’Mya. Two aunts Rosa Williams and Marie Wynn. Robert leaves a HOST of family and friends who genuinely loved and will miss him!!!
